New Things

Jan 5, 2025    Sebastiano Rosa

SUMMARY:

Drawing from Isaiah 43:16-19, Pastor Sebastiano challenges us to leave behind old patterns and embrace the new things God is doing, both individually and collectively. Transformation within each person's heart is the pathway toward renewal in the church and the community.

As we step into 2025, we're called to embrace four challenges to grow deeper in our faith and impact our community. First, let’s renew our commitment to prayer—both as a congregation and in our personal lives—seeking God daily and exploring new ways to connect with Him. Second, discern how God is calling you to use or renew your gifts in service to the church and beyond. Third, consider how you can contribute to sustaining and expanding our ministries through intentional and regular giving. Finally, think of the “one” in your life who needs Jesus, and commit to praying for and inviting them into a relationship with Him. As we reflect on these challenges, let’s take steps of obedience, faith, and courage, writing down our commitments and dedicating them to Jesus as we move into this new year.

QUESTIONS:

Reflecting on the Past: In Isaiah 43:16-18, God reminds Israel of His past deliverance but challenges them to not dwell on the former things. How can remembering God's faithfulness in the past inspire us to embrace new challenges without getting stuck in old patterns or expectations?

Perceiving the New: In verse 19, God declares, "I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?" What "new thing" do you sense God might be doing in your prayer life, service, giving, or relationships as you step into 2025?

Stepping into Faith: God promises to make "a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." What wilderness or wasteland do you feel God is inviting you to trust Him through? How might prayer, serving, giving, or inviting others help you navigate this season?

Personal Application: Of the four challenges—prayer, serving, giving, and inviting—where do you feel most called to grow? How can the group support you in taking a step of faith toward this area of commitment?
